On May 5, 2021 in Australia, and in July in the UK, Hardie Grant is publishing The Beijing Bureau – 25 Australian Correspondents Charting China’s Rise, edited by Trevor Watson and Melissa Roberts. The book distills more than 40 years of Australian experience reporting from China, and includes contributions by such noted correspondents as Chris Buckley and Jane Perlez from The New York Times, Stephen McDonell from the ABC and BBC, Richard McGregor from The Financial Times, Rowan Callick from the Australian, and Yvonne Preston and Hamish McDonald from the Sydney Morning Herald and the Age. Madeleine O’Dea’s contribution draws on 30 years of covering China, for the Australian Financial Review, the ABC, and beyond, and considers the Chinese Communist Party’s project to re-write the history of China in order to promote a dangerous new kind of nationalism.
The Beijing Bureau is now available for pre-order from you local bookstore or by following this link, and will be in all good bookstores in Australia from 5 May, and in the UK from July.
